Hotel is nice, very well located, nice swimming pool. However the management is "Saudi style", here are thi issues: 1) I had Nespresso machine in the room (great), however the capsules were not Nespresso, but very cheap no-name compatible capsules, which is impossible to drink (Head of Supply Chain decided to save money). I think it is inappropriate for a 5-star Swiss hotel. 2) Room service always took something from my room by mistake. One time it was swimming glasses and I had to skip my training next morning because of this. It took staff around 20 hours to find it. 3) The cleaning of the room was not perfect, i.e ironing board was never sent back to the wardrobe, although I asked about this couple of times 4) Every time after room cleaning in the morning the staff turned ALL lights in the room on. As I was coming in the evening, the lights were on the whole day. And this is the procedure, not an exception, they do it for all rooms. Why? Don't you have "Green" programs in place? It's not only not smart but also bad for the planet. 5) Steam room was not working during all 30 days of my stay and nobody started to fix it. 6) overall any request that i ,made was forgotten already the next day, so i had to repeat it again and again. 30 days in a row

Upon entering the hotel, the decor was modern with a hint of local tradition, as seasoned travellers, personally we feel that it would be a warmer welcome if we saw more local flare in the decor. The staff at the front desk was very well trained, friendly, polite, always willing to help and courteous. Our room was a King suite and first impression was that the toilet is small but the room is spacious, much bigger than regular king suites at other hotels. Other than the expected, there were some standout facilities, such as the generous sized kitchenette with a good sized sink and with pots, pans, utensils, a coffee machine, tea kettle, microwave, fridge and the best part was the washer and dryer. Another stand out accessory we saw was in the toilet; the body loofah in the shower - everywhere we stay during our travels we always pack a loofah because no hotel provides one.. but at Swissotel it was a pleasant surprise. The closet was a grande size, the bed too. Room service was excellent and all the electronic devices were provided while keeping the guest’s comfort in mind. Some suggestions for a 10/10 rating: 1. I would suggest a coat hanger in the room especially for abayas, and more hooks or hanging rods in the toilet for towels. As the entire room (including toilet) had only one rod on the shower door big enough for a single large towel, and a single hook inside the shower. 2. Some of the room fittings showed signs of a lack of attention to detail during construction. Such as the shower door towel hanging rod, it’s fittings were not straight. The switches in the toilet were not straight. The walls in the room which bordered the tv were crooked. There was a bulb missing in the ceiling hanging lamp next to the bed. The clock next to the bed did not have the right time. 3. On our second day we came to breakfast at 9:30 and one of the staff members told my husband that they will close everything at 10:30 as they’re having a meeting. It would have been nice to hear a “Goodmorning, how are you?” Instead of that. We didn’t have a table ready with napkins and utensils. One of the managers noticed and ordered staff to set it for us. Then my husband ordered a latte and was given in a take away cup. Indicating to us that they want us to leave quickly and we are not welcome here for breakfast and serving us is not their priority, rather the meeting they were going to host for some makeup company was much more important. It left a really bad image for us and also ruined our morning. 4. During the very first breakfast session, I noticed there were some dips present but nothing was labeled. I asked the staff which one is labneh? She said “whatever is here is here” - very rude. I have her another chance giving her the benefit of the doubt that she might not have understood me, I said “which once of these is labneh?” She said “madam whatever is here, is what we have. If there’s no labneh then the chef didn’t prepare it” and she walked off. Its not only bad etiquette to dip into every single thing but also time consuming. Couldn’t tell the difference visually between plain yogurt, labneh, cream or what. In the end I found the labneh. I would suggest labelling everything and also polishing staff on people skills. Overall the stay was ok. Some obvious teething issues were evident but we hope our review will help them iron things out and provide a 10/10 experience for their guests.
