I usually stay at the Swiss when we are having an event at work. The stay is always good the staff is friendly.

The room and service in the restaurant was excellent. However, I requested a print receipt but the printer was not working so they said they would email my stay receipt to me. I am still waiting and it has been over one week. I have called and left 2 messages and still no response. I must submit my receipt for my company to reimburse me. This is very disappointing.

Elegant hotel in front of the river. Attentive, friendly, and professional staff. Large room, very good bed, super comfortable pillows, small refrigerator, safe, excellent shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body moisturizer. We ate breakfast every day at their restaurant. It was super convenient, and every choice was absolutely delicious. The waiters at the restaurant as well as the bar staff were absolutely superb. I loved their dedication and friendliness. I will stay there again.

I'll start by saying we have stayed at the Swissotel Chicago for over 30 years, and it has always been a favorite of ours. I doubt we will return again. My reservation was cancellable with no penalty up to 48 hours prior to check in. I was fully billed (it hit my credit card - it was not in "pending") for my stay 54 hours prior to check in. I called and explained I was using a gift card (which could not be applied online), and after some discussion, the charge was reversed. I have never been to a hotel that fully charges you within the cancellation period. I understand being charged if you were a no show. The explanation provided was that this was a new hotel policy. This definitely does not seem to be an industry standard. At check-in, I presented my gift card and thought all was good. That evening, I received a text that my credit card was being fully charged for the room. At check-out, I again was told the charge was reversed. It remained however, as a hold on my credit card for 4 days prior to check out. This was not a small amount and to have something held against my credit line that long is concerning. I spend over 45 minutes on the phone with various staff trying to get this resolved. When I finally talked to a manager, he acknowledged that that large hold should never have hit my card since it was clearly noted on the hotel's side that I was using a gift card. I still have a $100 hold on my credit card 5 days after check out for "incidentals". Hopefully it will disappear before I need to make another call. Finally, the Swiss charges a $25+tax Urban Experience fee. We had to ask what that could be applied to. Given the high class of this hotel, this should be clearly explained what it includes. We have stayed at other downtown Chicago hotels, and this is again, not a standard practice at the other hotels we have stayed at. The room itself was fine.
