A very pleasant stay, staff is courteous, helpful, room is comfortable. Breakfast hall is huge and food variety is good. I'm allergic to gluten so upon request I even got my gluten free bread aswell.

I recently stayed at Swissotel Al Maqam Makkah and booked a Kaaba view room. I will say that the view itself was lovely and definitely a highlight of the stay. Unfortunately, the overall experience started on a very poor note. On the day of check-in, one of the female staff members at reception — she appeared to be from the Indonesian/Malaysian region (I’m not certain of her exact ethnicity) — was extremely rude, unfriendly, and unwelcoming. This was very disappointing, especially for a 5-star hotel where professionalism and warmth should be a given. It completely dampened what was meant to be an exciting and special stay, as I had been really looking forward to staying here. To make matters worse, any emails I sent to the hotel prior to arrival were ignored, which further reflects poorly on the level of customer service. Overall, the service felt inattentive and below standard. This experience was especially disappointing because I have stayed at Swissotel properties in other countries and received excellent service, which made this stay fall far short of expectations. For a hotel of this calibre and reputation, the customer service needs significant improvement.
